Review of Obagi Products

For many years I suffered from an uneven skin tone. This was mostly due to acne breakouts. Each outbreak of pimples left behind several dark spots on my face. The final effect was a mottled uneven complexion. I tried many fade creams and skin peels with varying degrees of success. I found the fade creams were ineffective and the skin peels too aggressive. They would peel the skin off my face forming a scab and the skin underneath was raw. Of course this resulted in yet another blemish. It was a vicious cycle.

By chance I heard of the Obagi Blue Peel. This peel can only be administered by a licensed professional, and it is quite expensive; however, Obagi has a whole line of products devoted to hyperpigmentation and acne-scarred skin.

The products I chose to use were the Obagi foaming Gel Cleanser, Obagi Toner, Obagi Exfoderm, and Obagi Sunfader. The star of the show for me was Exfoderm. This product accomplished in a few days what I had been trying to achieve for years. After less than a week of use, a miracle occurred. One night after showering, I stood in front of the mirror towel dryng my face. I noticed dead skin sloughing off. I rubbed harder, and just like that the damaged skin sloughed off revealing fresh new skin. To me it was a miracle. If my skin had not improved at all after that I would have been happy; however, it just got better. I used the products faithfully. Each morning after using the cleansing gel and toner, I applied Sunfader which is a fade cream and sun block combined in one lotion. The results are truly remarkable.

Prior to using Obagi products, I would not leave the house without makeup. It was not a choice for me–I had to wear it to cover up my uneven skin tone. Now makeup is optional. I feel these products would benefit anyone who has environmental damage due to sun exposure or caused by acne.
